How Dreamlane works
Dreamlane is an AI car-buying agent. You choose up to 5 cars you're seriously considering. Your agent contacts the dealers to confirm the cars are available, negotiate the price and get the price in writing before you talk to the dealer.
- Search for a car and choose up to 5 you're seriously considering.
- Meet your agent and verify your phone number.
- We place a temporary $19 hold on your card. It isn't a charge.
- Your agent contacts the dealers, confirms availability and asks for an all-in price.
- Follow every conversation in your Negotiation Dashboard and ask your agent questions along the way.
- If a dealer meets your terms, we connect you and the dealer can contact you directly.
No. Dreamlane doesn't sell, finance or lease cars.
You still buy directly from the dealership. Your agent handles the back and forth first so you can see what the dealer put in writing before you decide what to do next.
Trust and transparency
Dreamlane is operated by DMAP Labs, Inc., a CarGurus company.
Dreamlane is new and currently in beta in Canada, so you won't find years of Dreamlane reviews yet. Dreamlane has its own Terms and Privacy Policy, and your Dreamlane account is separate from any CarGurus account.
If something doesn't feel right, email support@dreamlane.ai. A real person will help.
No. Dealers currently pay nothing to take part in Dreamlane, to be contacted by your agent or to have their offer shown to you.
Today, Dreamlane makes money from the $19 shopper fee when your agent gets a qualifying offer.
Your agent contacts only the dealers for the cars you choose.
Yes. Your agent introduces itself as an AI buying advocate from Dreamlane and signs every message that way.
They also know the agent is working for a real shopper who has verified their phone number. They don't get your full name or phone number unless they meet your terms.
Cost
Dreamlane costs $19 only if a dealer offers you at least $200 off the car's advertised price through Dreamlane.
Dreamlane doesn't charge any other fees, and there's no subscription.
When you start a search, we put a temporary $19 hold on your card. It isn't a charge.
- We charge the $19 if a dealer gives you a written offer through Dreamlane that's at least $200 below the car's advertised price.
- Otherwise, we release the hold and you pay Dreamlane nothing. Your bank may take a few days to remove the pending amount.
The $19 is charged once per search.
You don't have to buy the car for the $19 to be charged. You're paying Dreamlane for your agent's work getting you the qualifying offer.
A dealer has to give you an actual price through Dreamlane that's at least $200 below the car's advertised price.
You never have to accept or buy based on an offer.
You don't have to take it.
If you have a question about a charge, email support@dreamlane.ai.
The hold shows you're ready to buy. Together with your verified phone number, it tells dealers you're a serious buyer, which helps your agent get you the best deal.
It only becomes a $19 charge if your agent gets you a qualifying offer. Otherwise, the hold is released.
Your privacy
While your agent is negotiating, the dealer communicates with your agent, not you.
They can see:
- your first name and last initial
- your postal code
- purchase details you've chosen to share, such as your timeline, trade-in, financing plans and credit range
- the other cars in your Dreamlane search
They cannot see:
- your full name
- your email address
- your phone number
When a dealer meets your terms, Dreamlane automatically shares your full name and phone number with that dealer so they can contact you.
Dealers that haven't met your terms don't get your full name or number.
Dreamlane doesn't sell your details to dealers.
For the full details, read our Privacy Policy.
Your number helps your agent get you the best deal. When your agent contacts a dealer, it tells them you've verified your phone number, so they know they're talking with a real, serious buyer.
You also sign in with a code we text you, so you don't need a password.
If a dealer meets your terms, we share your number with that dealer so they can contact you. Until then, dealers don't get it.
Not while your agent is negotiating.
If a dealer meets your terms, we share your name and phone number with that dealer. From that point on, the dealer may contact you directly by phone or text, just as if you'd contacted the dealership yourself.
Your deal
A dealer meets your terms when it confirms the car is available and gives your agent an all-in price at or below the price your agent is aiming for.
Then:
- Your agent shares your name and phone number with that dealer.
- Your offer letter appears in your Negotiation Dashboard.
- The offer letter shows the price the dealer confirmed, estimated taxes and licensing, and who at the dealership will contact you.
- The dealer can reach out to arrange your next step.
You decide whether you want to move forward.
No, but you'll have what the dealer confirmed in writing.
Your offer letter shows the all-in price the dealer gave Dreamlane, including dealer fees.
The offer isn't a legally binding contract, and your final purchase is between you and the dealership. If the price or fees at the dealership don't match your offer letter, don't sign anything you aren't comfortable with, and let us know at support@dreamlane.ai.
No.
You're never obligated to buy a car or accept an offer you receive through Dreamlane.
Your agent asks the dealer for an all-in price that includes dealer fees and any add-ons already on the car.
Sales tax and licensing are added separately. Your offer letter shows estimates for those amounts.
We kick off your search at the best time for each dealer, based on their hours and how quickly they tend to respond.
Most dealers respond within 24 hours. Your agent keeps following up with dealers who reply, once a day for about a week, and you can follow every conversation in your Negotiation Dashboard.
Cars and availability
DreamScore is a score out of 100 that helps you compare a listing with similar cars for sale nearby.
It's based mostly on price and partly on how long the car has been listed. Higher scores mean the listing compares more favorably on those factors.
DreamScore is a guide, not a guarantee of what you'll ultimately pay.
You can choose eligible new and used cars near your postal code, within the distance you select.
Some dealers and listings aren't eligible for Dreamlane, and we filter out some used cars with unusually high mileage. That means you may not see every car that's currently for sale.
If you don't see enough matches, try increasing your distance or searching another model.
Dreamlane is currently available across Canada except British Columbia and Quebec.
Financing: Dreamlane doesn't offer loans or check your credit. If you tell us you plan to finance and choose to share a credit range, your agent can pass that information to the dealer. Financing is handled separately with the dealer or lender you choose.
Trade-ins: Your agent can tell dealers that you have a trade-in, but Dreamlane doesn't negotiate its value. You handle the trade-in with the dealership.
Leasing: No. Dreamlane negotiates purchase prices only.
Your agent and account
Yes. Ask your agent questions anytime from your Negotiation Dashboard.
You can ask where each negotiation stands, compare what dealers have said, talk through the decisions you'll still make with the dealer, or get tips before you visit the dealership.
Questions you ask your agent in chat aren't sent to dealers.
Yes. Email support@dreamlane.ai and we'll stop your search.
If a dealer already received your contact information because it met your terms, they may still contact you. You can tell the dealer directly that you're no longer interested.
Yes. You can request account deletion by contacting support@dreamlane.ai.
For privacy-related requests, you can also contact privacy@dmaplabs.com. We handle deletion requests according to our Privacy Policy.
